Rove: A Fount of Balderdash
Print

As noted in a New York Times article on Karl Rove’s speech yesterday to the Republican National Committee, “Mr. Rove’s speeches early in election years have proved to be accurate predictors of what Republican candidates will say in the fall.”
Because the stakes of the upcoming elections are so high, no point made by Rove should go without an extremely vigorous counter-argument laying bare the balderdash and deception behind Rove’s assertions and those of other, like-minded Republicans.
Take Rove’s accusation that Democrats have a “cut and run” policy on Iraq.
Republicans, at this point, should literally be shouted down every time they try to paint Democrats as “soft” on national security.
Indeed, among all the Bush administration’s various rapes of the United States, the most salient has been its failure to adequately vouchsafe our national security.
Just how secure are we supposed to feel, for example, if Osama Bin-Laden is still at large?
And what were Bush and Rove doing when they should have been pursuing his capture as their number one priority?
They were scheming for a means to invade Iraq. As part of their deception involving non-existent weapons of mass destruction in Iraq, they exposed a clandestine CIA operative. Does anybody believe that promoted the security of the country?
Whereas they should have been reinforcing the security of the chemical plants, ports, rail lines and other such in our territory, the Bush administration squandered immense economic resources and human lives in Iraq, where the attack, invasion, and occupation actually created a breeding ground for anti-U.S. terrorists where before there had not been one. Congratulations to them on this splendid accomplishment.
What I’ve presented here is but a limited sampling of how Bush administration and Republican policies are placing our country in a weakened position vis-à-vis Al-Qaeda. Who in their right mind would vote to keep this lot in power?
Rove’s language, in the face of these truths, is despicable. He said, for example: “The United States faces a ruthless enemy, and we need a commander in chief and a Congress who understand the nature of the threat and the gravity of the moment America finds itself in. President Bush and the Republican Party do. Unfortunately, the same cannot be said for many Democrats.”
This class of bull must be vanquished.
