What do you think, Democratic Governor of Virginia, Mark R. Warner, for President in 2008? Word on the coast says success in his campaign to put Kaine in the governor’s seat in Virginia gives him clout. Rumor has it; he already started raising funds and recruited Donald S. Beyer as his campaign manager. I’m not sure hiring the treasurer of an unsuccessful previous candidate (Howard Dean for President) is such a smart move, but who knows, it might work. Already a strong supporting network is forming around him, and he does have stable financial management skills, vital to rebuilding after the Bush years.
On his Virginia Governor website, Warner states that he stands for: economic development in rural areas, health care, successful schools, life-long learning, community involvement, tax reform, security, crisis preparation, and an efficient, effective governing body. It sounds good. What do you think?
On September 25th I wrote a piece about Hillary Clinton’s odds for winning the 2008 Presidential election. She is currently running out front of all other Democratic hopefuls. As of October 17th, Warner had achieved a measurable 1% in the Gallop Polls, and he isn’t even officially running yet.
I encourage anyone who knows anything about this candidate to chime into the conversation. I don’t personally live in Virginia, so I don’t have much to say on the topic, but I would love to hear about Warner and any other Democratic candidates vying for the world’s most visible job. Let’s turn this blog into a…well, blog…blog means conversation, dialogue, debate, discussion, with links to information supporting our opinions. Give it a try, even if you have never made a comment before.
